ARM SHIELDS

OF WORLD WAR TWO

(H1006) A large size Lappland Shield of a type I have never encountered before. The shield was recently purchased in East Germany by a collector along with the Wehrpass showing the shield entered but the collector didn't wish to part with the wehrpass. The shield is of nice quality for a field manufactured item. Scarce to find.

GBP £395.00 (UK Pounds)

(K911) A Nice example of a zinc Demjansk Shield. This is the type with the curved propellor and the seraph J found in the Forman Price Guide and attributed to Roger Bender (not this shield but this style), who has stated that he has had this shield type since the 1950's and was given it by his relative. There is much controversy over these shields by certain people who have said this type did not exist before 1980. I feel this conclusively proves the matter. The shield is of pressed zinc metal with a luftwaffe cloth backing that has a zinc shield fitted to that with the prongs of the shield bent over and then a paper backing affixed. The backing is in good condition but has come away in parts. All in all, a nice unusual shield and a good talking point.

GBP £275.00 (UK Pounds)

(K1444) A Krim Armshield on Army backing. The shield is of nice magnetic construction with a magnetic backplate. At some time, the backing paper has come unstuck and has ben restuck down onto the armshield. There is also only 3 of the 4 prongs remaining to the shield as these can be felt through the paper backing. The shield has a nice bronze plating to it and is in very nice overall condition.

GBP £150.00 (UK Pounds)

(K1446) A Kuban Armshield in near mint condition. The shield is a magnetic example with a magnetic backplate intact. The shield has virtually all of it's original bronze plated finish and the army green cloth backing shows no mothing. The paper backing is partially loose but all intact. Very nice to find in this condition.

GBP £225.00 (UK Pounds)

(L98) A Demjansk Arm Shield on army backing cloth. The shield has been recently acquired and as such removed from a sticking board where two sticking tapes were used to fix it. These show to the reverse. The shield is complete with it's original magnetic backing plate, army cloth backing and part paper backing and has all four pins intact. The shield retains much of it's original silvered finish but with some powder rusting coming through. A nice hard armshield to acquire. It appears it has been cut from it's original tunic it was mounted on to.

GBP £275.00 (UK Pounds)

(L293) A Demjansk Armshield in polished steel. The shield has been removed from a display recently, where it was polished. The shield has all four prongs, but one is broken and loose. Priced for this

GBP £175.00 (UK Pounds)

(L327) An Army Krim Shield complete with its army green cloth backing and its original backplate and paper backing. The shield is part of a grouping of shields that were discovered many years ago and as such is ex stores condition although it has some age staining to it, nothing too bad though. In very good condition.

GBP £150.00 (UK Pounds)

(L416) A Nice textbook example of a Near Mint Krim Shield. The shield is the magnetic bronze plated then lacquered type that has no rusting to the front of the shield at all. The shield is mounted onto a piece of green cloth. This is also in very nice condition, that in turn has a metal back plate mounted to it with the four prongs folded over and then a green leatherette paper has been stuck to the reveres. The backing plate shows some rusting but nothing too serious. The shield is slightly convexed. This is the best Krim we have seen in a very long time. Probably one we wont see for a very long time in this quality and condition.

GBP £199.00 (UK Pounds)

(L426) A Sardinian Shield being of pressed metal with a pin soldered at a 2 o clock position from top to bottom along the back. The shield of non magnetic metal is of pressed tombak with silver plating to it. Only the third one we have ever had, it matches all known originals. The shield measures approximately 25 mm high. Very hard to find, it is believed these shields were worn on the side caps of the German troops they were given to, being raised to a combat award at the end of the war.

GBP £375.00 (UK Pounds)

(L586) A nice Luftwaffe Demjansk Armshield being the steel style which retaiins virtually all of it's original silver finish with only a little minor rusting as can be seen. The shield is mounted on Luftwaffe backing and has a magnetic back plate, with the pins affixed through in the diamond pattern. All in all, a very nice example, being slightly convexed.

GBP £195.00 (UK Pounds)

(L647) A Naval Narvik Arm Shield that is gilt on zinc. This has oxidised in places as can be seen from the scan. The shield is complete with its blue backing zinc back plate and paper backing applied. The shield has as can be seen oxidisation which often happens for the zinc gilt examples. With fewer than 5000 navy sailors involved, the shield is technically more rare than the Cholm shield.

GBP £350.00 (UK Pounds)

(L648) A used and worn example of a Krim Arm Shield. The shield is mounted onto a piece of luftwaffe backing cloth and shows it has been cut from a tunic. The shield has the remains of a black paper backing over a magnetic back plate with all four prongs intact. The shields front which is also magnetic, shows a nice bronze plated finish, which is 100% intact. All in all, a nice used example.

GBP £140.00 (UK Pounds)

1957 Re Issue (Replacement Issue) Arm Shields

These arm shield are the official West German Replacments as used by the West German Armed Forces after 1957

(J515) A 1957 Army/Navy Narvik Shield. The shield is complete with it's three prongs to the reverse and is of nice quality and construction. Becoming hard to find with only approximately 8500 wartime issued, fewer than this would have been issued in 1957 making it one of the more scarce shields to acquire.

GBP £47.50 (UK Pounds)

  • (F555) A 1957 Demjansk Arm Shield being of pressed brass metal silver plated.
This has worn in places, and one of the reverse pins is broken. In vgc

    GBP £25.00(UK Pounds)

  • (G718) A 1957 Demjansk Arm Shield in near mint unused condition.

    GBP £25.00(UK Pounds)

(H1432) A 1957 Demjansk Shield complete with three prongs to the reverse. In very nice condition, the shield was given to any of the 100,000 members of the Demjansk pocket who reserved in 1957. Scarce to find.

    GBP £35.00 (UK Pounds)

(J516) A 1957 Kuban Armshield complete with all four pins to the reverse intact. The shield is of nice quality and construction and has a nice factory lacquer applied over the shield. A scarce shield to acquire. Fewer of these than their '39 counterparts, would have been given out and so I feel these shields will rise steadily in the future.

    GBP £47.50 (UK Pounds)

(J517) A 1957 issue Krim Armshield in very nice condition, still with it's original factory lacquer finish. The shield has all four prongs to the reverse and was given for the battles in the Krimea region between 1941 and 1942. Reissued to the Bundeswehr in 1957, fewer of the qualifying soldiers would have re-inlisted and so these shields are quite hard to find nowadays.

    GBP £45.00 (UK Pounds)

(K845) A Luftwaffe Silver Drivers Badge in unused but rusted condition. The award is steel that has been silvered and is mounted onto a piece of Luftwaffe cloth backing with a steel backplate and a paper backing applied over this. The cloth backing is nice and near mint and the paper backing is also near mint. Scarce to find.

    GBP £40.00 (UK Pounds)

Award Cuff Bands for World War 2

(J1622) A nice near mint example of a Kreta Cuffband. The band is the type machine embroidered onto a white cotton base cloth. The band has the yellow piping also machine sewn and is the type where the leaves touch around and in. The band is in very nice and clean condition and was part of a group of about 100 found in a bale a few years ago. This one comes from the centre and has never been used and worn although it is a little age stained. Unmounted and still virtually mint.

    GBP £325.00 (UK Pounds)

(J1623) A nice near mint example of a Kreta Cuffband.

1957 Re Issue (Replacement Issue) Cuff Titles

These Cuff titles are the Official West German Replacments as used by the West German Armed Forces after 1957

    SHOOTING LANYARDS

(B1566) An early pattern Marksman's Lanyard being grade 2 as it has one acorn hanging from it. The shield is complete and the back of the shield on the aluminium brading has a piece of cloth sewn to it. There are two repairs to the Lanyard on both button attachments as can be seen from the scan. Apart for that, the award is in vgc.

    GBP £75.00(UK Pounds)

    DRIVERS BADGES

(J1834) A nice unissued Silver Drivers Badge on a bluish cotton. The badge is still in it's original LDO cellophane packet that has LDO to the front and the guarantee terms to the back. There are some rust marks to show the pins have been there for several years in the packet. Other than this, the front of the badge is near mint. The back has little bits of paper falling off, other than this, it is ok. A nice unusual item to find, especially like this.

    GBP £65.00 (UK Pounds)

(L303) A Drivers Badge in Silver. The badge has recentl come out of a display and has only two prongs left of the four. There is no backing plate and I feel that both prongs are pretty fragile and will snap if touched with any force. The badge was originally removed (poorly) from a salesmans sample board from the firm of Deumer.

    GBP £15.00 (UK Pounds)

(L796) A Nice example of a Bronze Drivers Badge. The badge is of magnetic construction with two edge tabs piercing through army green backing cloth. Being then bent over a steel back plate. This has minor rust marks to it. The badge itself also has some minor tarnishing as can be seen from the scan. Although complete with its paper backing, this has detached.. The badge was traded at the end of the war by a British serviceman who was an RAF Pilot Officer.

    GBP £45.00 (UK Pounds)

(L797) A Nice example of a Silver Drivers Badge. The badge is on army green backing cloth and it retains most of its silver wash finish over the zinc base metal. To the reverse, there is a steel back plate with two brass pins holding it firmly. There is also the remains of the paper backing intact. Very nice to find. The badge was traded at the end of the war by a British serviceman who was an RAF Pilot Officer.

    GBP £50.00 (UK Pounds)
