AUSTRIA - 1945

(E1244) An Austrian tradition Cap Badge which is the design of a flag with a two headed imperial eagle, with a crown over it. The eagle is in black and has a shield to the centre. This is on a yellow background with around the edges, multicoloured black, red and white triangles. Superb quality.

(E1245) An Austrian enamelled Tradition Cap Badge which appears to be for an Auzillary type Cruiser. The badge is an oval shape and has around the edge, three emblems, and the wording PROFUGIS AUXILIUM 1914 1916. And a ship as a central design. The badge is in superb quality and condition.

(F619) An oval Austrian Badge in yellow enamel with a black double headed eagle and crown. The eagle is holding a septre and ball. There is some slight enamel cracking to the badge. Vgc.

(F620) A nice enamelled German Badge showing a German field cap from WWI and a tiny medallion hanging from it with the wording FLANDEN to one side and ANDENKEN AN to the other side. The badge is of nice quality and enamel work and construction.

(F837) An Austrian Cap Badge in zinc showing the heads of the four Leaders of the German coalition being Franz Josef, Mehmed 5th, Wilhelm 2nd and Ferdinand 1st. To the base, it has the following wording "BIRIBUS VNITIS 1915". In very nice condition.

(F839) An Austrian Cap Badge in silvered brass showing a crown to the top with two crossed cannons, the date 1915 and the letters HTTOI to it. Nice pin back fixing and in very nice condition.

(F1223) A button hole studded Austrian Badge with nice enamel work. Showing a green border, with an Austrian eagle with an enamelled red and white shield to it's chest and an imperial crown to the top with a splash of red enamel to that. The reverse is maker marked W & A. In very nice condition.

(F1225) An Austrian Cap Badge for the 21st corps. With the date 1916, it shows some mountains with an Austrian knight, with a shield and eidelweiss guarding a mountain. It is logical to assume that this is for a mountain troop. The reverse is maker marked and the badge is of very nice striking and design.

(F1226) An Austrian Cap Badge showing the head of their king of the time and commemorating the winter of 1914/15 for the second army. The badge is maker marked to the reverse and apart from the hook being slightly pushed over, it is in very good condition. The badge is also maker marked to the front. Vgc.

(F1227) An Austrian Cap Badge showing Austrian troops fighting and with the wording Dorn-Watra and with the wording Weltkrieg 1914-1916. To the side, there is the manufacturer's mark and the badge is in gc to vgc. Very nice design.

(F1228) An Austrian Cap Badge for 1915 for the third army in Belgrad. In very good condition but with some age staining. The award is maker marked to the reverse.

(F1229) An Austrian Cap Badge showing a flag with a shield to the centre encompassed by a U. It may well be this is a Yugoslavian/Croatian cap badge for their troops while in the Austrian Empire, fighting in WWI. In vgc.

BULGARIA- 1945

(F1201) A Bulgarian WWI Medal, complete with it's well used ribbon. Mounted in the triangular form, someone has pulled the medal loop out as can be seen from the scan. The medal itself though, is nice, bright, clean and crisp. With swords for combatants, this is a nice award given to many Germans as well as Hungarian, and Austrians.

CROATIA 1939 - 1945

(D1440) A nice example of a used and worn Croat Navy Legion badge. The badge is the type with the inlay enamel of white and red on a naval anchor and Croatian Chequer board. Unfortunately there is some minor damage to the enamel on the anchor's eye and top anchor's arm as can be seen in the scan. Other than this, the badge is in very nice condition and quire scarce.

(E172) A 3rd class Order of the Crown of King Zvonimir with swords. Complete with it's specially mounted Austrian style of ribbon on the triangular form. The award although stained, has no enamel damage and is with swords for bravery. This is the style with the raised crown and is believed to have been manufactured by the Croatian firm based in Zegrab

(E212) A Croat medal for the King of Zvonimir being a battlefield recovered example. In gc. The zinc made award is finely pitted as can be seen from the scan. There is no ribbon with the award.

(E356) An unidentified but believed to be Foreign Volunteer badge that has a black enamelled swastika set in a red background. Around the edges, is what is remeniscent of a German Cross in gold wreath. There is some enamel damage to this badge as can be seen. It has been put forward that it is either Croatian or Italian but unfortunately I have been unable to find a reference to it.. So if anyone wishes to take a project on, this badge may well be the one to go for.

(E791) A pair of Croatian items recently recovered from around Stalingrad and consists of a ½ dog tag which has the following stamped to it. 250 2.LE.BATTR.KROAT.AUSB.BRIG. And a Croatian bronze bravery medal for the Croatian armed forces. There is no ribbon or ring to it. Both in good condition.

(E793) A scarce issue Croat Navy Legion badge being the type with the white enamelled anchor and red chequered board. The badge has a tiny piece of enamel damage on the top anchor eye, as can be seen from the scan, but nothing too serious. The pin fixing to the reverse is all complete and is the style with the nice broad bladed pin. As there were less than 600 volunteers, the badge is considered quite scarce.

(E1029) A medal ribbon bar group of 6 consisting of the Iron Cross 2nd class,the War Merit Cross with swords, an Army 4 yr Long Service Medal, a 13th March and 1st October medal, and finally a Croatian Order of the Crown of King Zvonimir for the 4th class award. Also with this is the original Zvonimir award which is of very nice quality, construction and condition. This has no enamel damage to it. Picture

(F78) A nice Croatian Para Badge, the type with two pins soldered to the reverse. The badge is made from grey zinc and has superb detail. The chequer board to the base has little dots of red paint in the counter sunk shield. Very rare as few of these were made, issued and awarded.

(F406) A Croatian Bravery Medal in silver showing the Croatian leaders profile and it also has his name around the edge. The award is mounted on the Austrian style of ribbon being triangular and the medal itself is a zinc example. Scarce to find.

(F526) A Croat Order of the Crown of King Zvonimir 2nd class with swords. The award is the larger sixe and has a German style pin to the reverse. The quality of the item makes me believe that is in fact of German manufacture and not Croat. The swords denote military action and the award has no enamel damage and has a nice fire gilt finish to the gold high spots. The central crown also appears to be held on by a single rivet. Superb quality.

(F982) A Croatian Order of the Crown Of King Zvonimira and complete with it's original cellaphande packet of issue. The award is the silvered zinc style and comes complete with it's original Austrian style of ribbon triangularly mounted. The medal has some minor tarnishing marks as can be seen from the scan. Other than this, it is a very nice clear crisp striking and especially with it's packet, it is a very rare to find example.

(F1426) A civil lapel badge of the German Volks gruppe in Croatia. The Badge show a black enamelled swastika with a red and silver enamelled title bars at the top and bottom of the badge with the wording DEUTSCHE VOLKS GRUPPE IN KROTIEN.. It has no damage to it of any kind. This badge entitled many of the holders to special privileges as well as automatic entry into the SS. It is a very scarce badge with only a line drawing shown in the book Foreign Legions of Third Reich Vol 4 on page 380.

(G622) A zinc and red painted Croat Army Legion pin on Badge given to the survivors for the battle of Stalingrad. Originally worn as a cap badge, this award was moved to the breast pocket and made and Honourarium. Very nice striking of one of the scarcer Croat awards.

(E1691) A Croatian Police patch for the war for the early 1990's. The patch is in used and worn condition and has been taken from a tunic. Unusual to find

(G1302) A battlefield recovered Croatian Radio Operator's Badge. The badge is the type described as German manufacture with a solid back and plain hinge and hook fixing. There was also at some point a bottom retainer's hook but this has broken. The front of the badge where the red enamelled paint on the Croatian shield etc has only a few of these left, and it shows oxidisation and tarnish marks to it. The silvering has worn down to the brass tombak metal. All in all, the badge has a used and worn look to it. Having said this, the badge has a very nice and pleasing look and shows it was used and worn in service. Quite a nice badge to acquire. As priced for condition.

HUNGERY 1945

(F1113) A Strange Badge being a handmade item that consists of a sword going through a cogwheel with a swastika to the centre. To the base of the sword, there is the date 1945 and around the edges of the cogwheel, someone has scratched OZUKSTEE IRIAVA. We haven't included the umlauts above the z and u as we haven't got them! To the reverse, there is a pin fixing. The badge is cut from copper and has been silvered. This has worn down again to the base copper. In vgc. An unusual item.

JAPAN

(G433) A scarce to find Japanese Veterans Badge being 28 mm by 18 mm in size and consisting of a silvered shield bearing a naval anchor with a bronze star affixed separately to the centre. As far as I have been told, it was issued to any veteran of the war against China, Korea, Manchuria, or the Allies. This example has a maker's name to the reverse. Hard to find.

  • (D1186) A standard issue Rumanian Crusade against Communism medal, complete with it's original ribbon and the type with the manufacturer's maker's name under the ladies head of P Grant. The medal is in nice clean condition. .

  • (F543) A standard Rumanian Crusade against Communism Medal mounted on a piece of German Russian Front medal ribbon. In very good condition and quite unusual to find.

    (G840) A well used and worn Rumanian Crusade against Communism Medal. The medal is the type with the maker's name of Grant under the woman's head. The award shows some tarnishing and verdigree but nothing too bad. Given to the Rumanian army that took part in Germany's disasterous winter war against Russia. The award is often encountered in German medal groups and just like the Russian Front Award, it is a highly regarded award. .

    (G1231) A Romanian Medal for Hardship and Loyalty. This one is the Bronze class and these were instituted in 1941 with the outbreak of the war against Russia. Often issued to German non commission ranks, a photograph can be found of an NCO wearing one in the book "Foreign Legions of the Third Reich" by David Littlejohn on page 120. Scarce to find. In vgc

The badge is of standard construction with a dark blue and mustard yellow shield with a Maltese Cross which has the royal eagle of Romania with a shield on it's chest affixed to the centre of the badge.     SLOVAKIA - 1945

    (E43) A Slovakian War Badge for the "Schnelle Division" for service on the Russian Front. The badge is homemade case type with a number to the back 2464. It has two loops for fixing to the tunic. The badge is used and worn but very very rare.

    (E1030) A medal bar grouping of 7 consisting of the German Iron Cross 2nd class, the Russian Front medal, the 25 and 12 yr Long Service medals, two medals with crossed swords that I am not familiar with and finally a Slovakian award for heroism. Also coming with this is the Slovakian decoration for heroism 2nd class in silver metal with the Slovakian style of ribbon mount intact. There is also the emblem for the ribbon with this grouping. Quite a nice rare set to acquire. I have only ever seen one before.

    (G732) A Commemorative issue Slovakia Loyalty and Defence Medal complete with bar to ribbon for combatants. The medal has the dates 1918-1938 to it and is in very good condition. Complete with it's original ribbon.

    SPAIN

    (D1317) A Spanish badge of the J.O.N.S (Organized Spanish Youth) This badge was sometimes worn on the Service tunic on the left breast pocket by former members of this organization on service with the Spanish Blue Division,. Nice white enamel bird with blue and white chequered shield, with insignia of the Spanish Fascist to the top. The badge had at one time a pin back fixing but this is now absent. A nice unusual badge.

    TURKEY 1945

    (G731) A Turkish Gallipoli Star being of nice quality red enamel and heavy tombak construction. The star has no enamel damage and is unmarked. Superb detailing, the quality is superior to the B B & Co examples.
