AUSTRIA - 1945

(E1244) An Austrian tradition Cap Badge which is the design of a flag with a two headed imperial eagle, with a crown over it. The eagle is in black and has a shield to the centre. This is on a yellow background with around the edges, multicoloured black, red and white triangles. Superb quality.

(E1245) An Austrian enamelled Tradition Cap Badge which appears to be for an Auzillary type Cruiser. The badge is an oval shape and has around the edge, three emblems, and the wording PROFUGIS AUXILIUM 1914 1916. And a ship as a central design. The badge is in superb quality and condition.

(F1229) An Austrian Cap Badge showing a flag with a shield to the centre encompassed by a U. It may well be this is a Yugoslavian/Croatian cap badge for their troops while in the Austrian Empire, fighting in WWI. In vgc.

(J398) An Austrian WWI Cap Badge being nicely made and constructed of a quality bronze metal. The badge has a nice pin fixing to the reverse and is maker marked a Vienna maker. The badge shows some Austrian soldiers defending a mountain pass with the wording "ISONZO ARMEE 1915 with the Austrian and Hungarian shields to either corner. In very nice condition.

(K310) An Austro/Hungarian Cap Badge showing a man fending off a bear. The badge is marked 307. Very nice quality and condition. Worn on the caps of servicemen of both the Austrian and Hungarian armies.

(K775) A nice example of a WWI Austrian 21st Army Corps Pin On Cap Badge. The badge is complete with it's pin and hook and is dated 1916. It shows a knight holding a shield and sword with the edelweiss device on the shield. The reverse is maker marked and designer marked the following Entw V.LTN. N. Behle Ausgef. Atelier Gub Schner Wien VII/2. Very nice quality and condition and becoming scarce to find.

(L373) An Austrian General Flying Badge for the period of 1917/18. The badge is of gilded metal and enamel and is in very good condition. Fine quality workmanship. There is no enamel damage I can see and the badge is unmarked. Held to the tunic by a sliding pin, which is intact. In very nice condition. Very rare to find. A lovely piece.

(L375) An Austrian Observers Badge from the interwar period of 1934-1938. The badge has a single pin fixing to the reverse and has green enamel to a bronze base. There is a slight enamel chip to the top of one of the oak leaves as can be seen from the scan, as well as a tiny chip to the white shield. The reverse has a pin fixing and the badge is marked F.Petzlwien15. Very nice quality and construction.

BULGARIA- 1945

(N673) A Beautiful example of the Order of Civil Merit, in 5th class with Crown. Nice enamel work with no chips or cracks. A superb quality item.

(J1689) A very rare Membership Badge for the Bulgarian Fascist Group known as Union of The Young National Legion. The badge is shown only in a picture on page 53 of the book Foreign Legions of the Third Reich by David Littlejohn where it also shows three members of this group. The group was outlawed in 1934 and it is stated it had a membership of 35,000 people. Very scarce.

(K340) A nice Bulgarian pre WWII Pilots Badge that continued to be worn into WWII. The badge was initially set up by the Bulgarians to train pilots under a sports club smoke screen, as they were not allowed by the WWI victory treaty to have an airforce and this is how they got around it. The badge is of standard quality and construction and is often found in photographs being worn both by Bulgarian and German pilots. A nice unusual item for the luftwaffe collector.

(K1571) A Bulgarian Balkan War Commemorative Badge for 1913. This is a 25 mm miniature pinback cross in enamel. The award is maker marked STOGER WIEN and numbered 5985 to the reverse. There is a little enamel damage but the item is still nice and clean.

(E356) An unidentified but believed to be Foreign Volunteer badge that has a black enamelled swastika set in a red background. Around the edges, is what is remeniscent of a German Cross in gold wreath. There is some enamel damage to this badge as can be seen. It has been put forward that it is either Croatian or Italian but unfortunately I have been unable to find a reference to it.. So if anyone wishes to take a project on, this badge may well be the one to go for.

(F78) A nice Croatian Para Badge, the type with two pins soldered to the reverse. The badge is made from grey zinc and has superb detail. The chequer board to the base has little dots of red paint in the counter sunk shield. Very rare as few of these were made, issued and awarded.

(K1145) An Army Croat Pilots Badge being of Early heavy quality metal. The badge is maker marked BRACA KNAUS ZAGREB which is stamped into the reverse. The award measures approximately 50 mm high by 57 1/2 mm wide and has the red and blue Croatian shield painted in. Similar examples to this type can be found on the website www.ww2wings.com under the Croatian section. A scarce to find badge.

(L216) A 3rd class Order of the Crown of King Zvonimir with swords. Complete with it's specially mounted Austrian style of ribbon on the triangular form. The award although stained, has no enamel damage and is with swords for bravery. This is the style with the raised crown and is believed to have been manufactured by the Croatian firm based in Zegrab

(L722) A Croatian Order of the Crown Of King Zvonimira and complete with it's original cellaphande packet of issue. The award is the silvered zinc style and comes complete with it's original Austrian style of ribbon triangularly mounted. The medal has some minor tarnishing marks as can be seen from the scan. Other than this, it is a very nice clear crisp striking and especially with it's packet, it is a very rare to find example.

FINLAND to 1945

(J15) A Finnish/Norwegian WWII Ring being well marked to the reverse and dated. The reverse is stamped LO presumably for the company, 830S for silver content, NR378 for patent number, NORGE 1940. To the front, it has what looks like his initials engraved. A very unusual item.

(K1226) A Finnish Bravery Medal for the 1939 conflict with Russia. The award is of fine quality but unmarked as far as I can see.

(K1309) A nice example of a used and worn Finnish made Nord Front Cross. The cross is dated 1941-43 and is the white centred type showing both the Finnish and German flag, as well as the Finnish coat of arms. There is some minor enamel damage to the cross which is to be expected as it is a used and worn item. These crosses were highly prized and worn by both Finns and Germans on their military tunics, with the SS 11th Nordland division being one of the units being awarded this cross. Scarce to find.

HUNGARY 1945

(F1113) A Strange Badge being a handmade item that consists of a sword going through a cogwheel with a swastika to the centre. To the base of the sword, there is the date 1945 and around the edges of the cogwheel, someone has scratched OZUKSTEE IRIAVA. We haven't included the umlauts above the z and u as we haven't got them! To the reverse, there is a pin fixing. The badge is cut from copper and has been silvered. This has worn down again to the base copper. In vgc. An unusual item.

(J1847) A nice example of a Hungarian WWI War Medal being the small Miniature type. The award is sewn to the base of a bow ribbon and is the type with Swords on the medal, to denote a combat veteran. The back of the ribbon has a small safety pin fixing, for attachment to civilian clothing. Very nice to find.

(L723) A Hungarian Wound Badge being a small sized award, approximately 25 mm high by 20 mm wide, with a button stud fixing to the reverse. The badge is in early quality metal which has been gilded. This has worn, giving a nice two toned appearance. To the centre, there are the letters HR intertwined within a circular oakleaf wreath, with the Hungarian crown to the top. All in all, a nice and scarce example. Formerly in Gordon Williamsons personal collection.

JAPAN

(G433) A scarce to find Japanese Veterans Badge being 28 mm by 18 mm in size and consisting of a silvered shield bearing a naval anchor with a bronze star affixed separately to the centre. As far as I have been told, it was issued to any veteran of the war against China, Korea, Manchuria, or the Allies. This example has a maker's name to the reverse. Hard to find.

(L380) A Japanese Air Mechanics Watch Fob. The fob is of cast zinc metal that is plated and has Japanese characters to the reverse. Similar examples can be found in the book "Japanese Naval Aviation Uniforms and Equipment 1937-1945" on page 29. A superb item and very nice quality and very rare.

ROMANIA

(G840) A well used and worn Rumanian Crusade against Communism Medal. The medal is the type with the maker's name of Grant under the woman's head. The award shows some tarnishing and verdigree but nothing too bad. Given to the Rumanian army that took part in Germany's disasterous winter war against Russia. The award is often encountered in German medal groups and just like the Russian Front Award, it is a highly regarded award. .

(G1232) A larger size 2nd style? Romanian Iron Guard Badge. The badge is of standard construction with a dark blue and mustard yellow shield with a Maltese Cross which has the royal eagle of Romania with a shield on it's chest affixed to the centre of the badge. The badge has a nice pin fixing to the reverse and is marked I.A.LEI26ST. There is no enamel damage and minor usage and wear. In vgc. ..

(J1674) A Rumanian Russian Front Medal for the Crusade against Communism. The medal is often found in German medal groups and was highly regarded. This example is the Rumanian made type with the designer's name of Grant to the base of the medal underneath the head of the lady. Complete with an original piece of ribbon.

(L18) A Rumanian Crusade against Communism Medal. The medal shows some tarnishing and verdigre staining to it. The medal has been used and worn in my opinion. Given to both Germans and Rumanians who took part in the invasion of Russia fron 1941. The award was held in high esteem and is the equivalent to the German East Front Medal. The medal is in reasonable condition and priced for same.

(L374) A WWII Rumanian Pilots Badge in silvered tombak metal. The badge is of excellent quality with a separately applied enamel shield to the centre of the badge. This has some minor enamel damage to it as can be seen from the scan, but nothing serious. The badge is unmarked and complete with its pin. Very nice to find. Often issued to German pilots as well as Rumanian etc.

SLOVAKIA - 1945

(G895)A German Sudaten Party Membership Badge for the female being mounted on a bar, showing the SDP logo on a red shield. This has a pin back fixing. The badge is in very nice condition and nice quality manufacture with no enamel damage. Very nice to find.

(G732) A Commemorative issue Slovakia Loyalty and Defence Medal complete with bar to ribbon for combatants. The medal has the dates 1918-1938 to it and is in very good condition. Complete with it's original ribbon.

(J1518) An unidentified Sudentenland Social Welfare Pin dated 1938. The pin has the Sudentan party emblem to the centre which is superimposed over the National Socialist Welfare emblem that is then encompassed by the date 1938. I have never seen this badge before but the quality and construction is consistent with the Third Reich and the badge is properly enamelled. Believed to be a high leaders badge or some such item. The Sudenten party was absorbed into the Nazi party in 1938, a pivotal year. Very rare.

(K869) A very rare example of a German Volksdeutsch Sudenten Party Day Badge. The badge is of superb quality, construction and condition and shows the Sudenten Party b Emblem to the top of the badge, showing two ears of corn with an odel rune to the centre and the wording ERNTEDANK and what is believed to be the date 1938 (see what you think by the scan). The badge is made of wood, I cannot stress the quality or rarity of this item enough.

(K976) A Rare example of the Sudentenland Rank Insignia based on the original membership badge. The badge is nicely gilded and has a chevron behind the main shield of the badge. The badge came in two grades, gold and silver, making this grade approximately half way. Very scarce to find, I have only ever had one other.

(K1002) A Membership Badge for the Slovakian Hitler Youth. The badge is a zinc shield shaped badge with green white green vertical stripes , with a black swastika to the centre. An illustration can be found in the book "Foreign Legions of the Third Reich" Vol. 3 by David Littlejohn on page 56. These badges were superceded by the absorption of these German Volks Deutsche into the Reich and as such are quite rare to find.

(K1506) A Hinkla Youth Membership Badge being in blue, red and white enamel. The badge has the double bar cross to the centre being in red enamel on a white enamelled circle and a blue outer enamelled rim. The blue enamelled outer edge has the letters HLINKOVA MLAOEZ in bronze. The badge has a round pin fixing with a spring clip soldered to the reverse. There is no enamel damage. An illustration of this type of badge can be found in the publication "Foreign Legions of the Third Reich" Vol. 3 on page 50.

(L201) A Slovakian War Badge for the Schnelle Division for service on the Russian Front. It has a number to the back stamped into it of 2464. . The badge has had a repair to the reverse with lead solder, soldering two loops to it and it can clearly be seen where the central pin once was. The badge is used and worn but very very rare. Priced for condition and rarity.

(J25) A Spanish Army badge, for the Franquist students League of the Falange. The badge is nicely constructed with enamel and of multi piece construction, with enamel and brass work. The badge although tarnished, is undamaged on the enamel. The badge on the reverse is issue numbered 10030. Scarce to find.

(J1553) A Spanish War Service Cross being of multi-piece construction. The award was maker marked or engraved to the recipient but this has been scraped out. The badge looks to be German made and has nice enamel work that is not chipped, cracked or damaged. Of superb quality, the star is nicely convexed. Worn on the right breast pocket, the award is often seen being warn with the Spanish Cross. Scarce to find.

(K313) A Spanish Officer's Belt Buckle showing a red enamelled cross on a Spanish eagle's chest, with a crown above. The red enamel has been bashed in places as can be seen from the scan. The item dates from the Franco period. It also has a collectors label of SPANIEN and the number 1.84 painted to the reverse. An unusual buckle. The size is approximately 7 cm high by 5 cm wide.

(K1526) A Spanish Flangelists Five Arrow Stickpin Badge in very good condition. The badge has some red paint applied to the yoke and there is nice fretted out work between the arrows. Worn on the tunic, these badges were often worn by the Spanish Blue Personnel.

(L220) A Spanish badge of the J.O.N.S (Organized Spanish Youth) This badge was sometimes worn on the Service tunic on the left breast pocket by former members of this organization on service with the Spanish Blue Division, on the Russian Front. Nice white enamel bird with blue and white chequered shield, with insignia of the Spanish Fascist to the top. Scarce to find

(L382) A Spanish Republican Air Gunners Badge. The badge is slightly curved and of hollow pressed metal with a red painted centre and an arrow pointing upwards. To the reverse it has two central prongs fitted to either wing for affixing either to the breast pocket of the cap if they wore it on their cap. Very rare to find. The badge matches all those so far encountered, with different pin fixings, which is to be expected. The wing span is approximately 80 mm by 44 mm high.

(L425) A Little enamelled Badge worn by members of the Spanish Blue Division on their lapels when out and about in Germany etc on leave. The badge shows the shield of Spain with the word Espana to the top in bronzed letters on a black background, with the shield shape being that of the Spanish armshield worn by the volunteers with it being red, yellow, red respectively and having a central device of five arrows with a black enamel iron cross to the centre. This shield badge measures approximately 20 mm high and is of nice quality and manufacture and complete with its pin. An unusual item.

TURKEY 1945

(G731) A Turkish Gallipoli Star being of nice quality red enamel and heavy tombak construction. The star has no enamel damage and is unmarked. Superb detailing, the quality is superior to the B B & Co examples.
