IRON CROSSES 1914 1st Class

IRON CROSSES 1914 1st Class

(H714) A rare example of the superbly crafted Iron Cross 1st Class 1914. The cross has some minor rusting to it as can be seen from the scan and is highly convexed. The cross is complete with it's screwback plate which is maker marked with a crown and a crescent, 800, 650006, DRGM M.HANSEN, one of the best maker's of quality items. The convexed iron cross itself though is unmarked. A very hard variation to acquire.

GBP £425.00 (UK Pounds)

(K135) A Superb example of a WWI Iron Cross 1st class for the 1914/1918 war. The cross is heavily convexed and of superb quality. There are no maker's marks to the award. The core iron centre is non magnetic. As such, I believe the cross, which is of three piece construction, to be a privately made example either just at the end of WWI or a little way after. Recently found in a house clearance in Germany.

GBP £175.00 (UK Pounds)

IRON CROSSES 1914 2nd Class

(J641) An Iron Cross 2nd Class for the 1914/18 war. The cross is in very good to near mint condition and I feel is a WWII or 1930's replacement cross. There are no ribbon ring marks to it and the quality and consctruction is very good. A nice variation for the iron cross collector.

GBP £45.00 (UK Pounds)

(J642) An Iron Cross 2nd Class for the 1914/18 war. The cross has a mark to the ribbon ring but it is unreadable. In good overall condition with only minor paint wear and tear. The cross has a nice iron core with a nice silver frame. This has toned over the years. Complete with a small piece of original ribbon. The cross was given for one act of bravery, above and beyond the call of duty, in WWI. Becoming harder to find.

GBP £40.00 (UK Pounds)

(J1195) A nice Iron Cross 2nd Class for WWI. Given for one act of bravery above and beyond the call of duty The cross is nicely soldered around the edges and the black painted core retains virtually all of it's original painted finish. In very good condition. The ribbon loop is unmarked. Part of a group of items purchased from a house clearance in Germany.

GBP £40.00 (UK Pounds)

(J1535) A well used and worn Imperial Iron Cross 2nd Class for 1914. The cross is maker marked SW on the ribbon ring. The cross has some powder rusting the iron centre as can be seen from the scan and the original ribbon that is attached has lost much of it's white from the edges of the ribbon. The core is nicely fitted with no splitting or cracking to it. Priced for condition. The cross was given for one act of bravery and beyond the call of duty. Recently acquired from a house clearance in Germany.

GBP £35.00 (UK Pounds)

(J1534) A nice example of an Imperial Iron Cross 2nd Class for 1914. This was when the iron cross was given by the state of Prussia for bravery. The cross is a nice clean example with the little nipple type attachment at the top. The ribbon ring is nicely marked KO and the cross retains virtually all of it's original black painted finish and the silver frame has toned dark over the years. There is no splitting or cracking to it. The cross is a very nice example. The cross was given for one act of bravery and beyond the call of duty. Recently acquired from a house clearance in Germany.

GBP £45.00 (UK Pounds)

IRON CROSSES 1939 1st Class
Awarded for several act of bravery, this award went on to capture the German nation as well as the rest of the world to become probobly the most widley reconized award in the world.

(J124) An Iron Cross 1st Class being of non-magnetic construction, with a rounded 3 numeral. The cross is otherwise of standard construction, with a nicely soldered frame. The pin on this example is unmarked. Very scarce to find these iron cross variations. This one is in very good condition.

GBP£750.00 (UK Pounds)

(K177) An Iron Cross 1st Class being a non magnetic example and of the standard three piece construction. The cross was part of the Brian Tomahawk Museum collection and is still sealed up in it's vacuum packet how we purchased it. This being the case, it is hard to tell if the cross is a maker marked example. It retains all it's black finish to the centre and the cross has a nice pin, hinge and hook fixing to the reverse.

GBP £225..00 (UK Pounds)

IRON CROSSES 1939 2nd Class
Awarded for one act of bravery, this award went on to capture the German nation as well as the rest of the world to become probobly the most widley reconized award in the world.

(J944) A nice near mint example of an Iron Cross 2nd Class in very good condition being the hard painted type. The silver frame is unsplit and nicely soldered and retains much of it's original finish. There is no maker's mark to the ribbon loop and the cross comes with a full piece of ribbon and also in a blue paper packet of issue with the maker's name to the reverse. Nice to find.

GBP £110.00 (UK Pounds)

(J1296) An Iron Cross 2nd Class for 1939. The cross is in very good condition with virtually no paint wear at all. There is some tarnishing to the silver frame which is to be expected. No splitting or cracking to it. The cross comes with an original piece of ribbon. This one is an unmarked example. I think the ribbon ring may have been replaced for it to be used on a medal ribbon bar, but this is only surmise on my part. Given for one act of bravery above and beyond the call of duty.

GBP £70.00 (UK Pounds)

(J1529) A nice near mint Iron Cross 2nd Class for 1939. The cross is of nice quality and construction with no splitting or cracking to the frame. The cross is nice and clean. The cross was given for one act of bravery and beyond the call of duty. Recently acquired from a house clearance in Germany.

(J1796) A nice example of an Iron Cross 2nd Class 1939 for WWII. The cross is of standard construction with an iron centre and a nice silver frame that is soldered up with no splitting or cracking. The paint is virtually all intact with only very very slight wear as can be seen from the scan. The cross retains virtually all of it's original silvered finish although this has toned over the years. In very nice condition and complete with an original piece or clean ribbon.

GBP £80.00 (UK Pounds)

The cross retains virtually all of it's original silvered finish although this has toned over the years. In very nice condition and complete with an original piece or clean ribbon.

GBP £80.00 (UK Pounds)

(K55) An Iron Cross 2nd Class in used and worn condition. The cross is of standard construction with a rattling iron centre, this is often called the Shaker Type, which many collectors state are the early issue ones. The core retains much of it's original painted finish and the silver frame which has tarnished is nicely soldered together and is not split or cracked. Very nice to find. This is an unmarked example.

GBP £75.00 (UK Pounds)

(K134) A nice example of an Iron Cross 2nd Class 1939. The cross is of standard three piece construction with a magnetic centre. The award is also ring marked what appears to be L14. I cannot be 100% certain on this though, it could also be 114, I will leave you to decide. This maker either way, is a scarce maker. The cross comes complete with a nice piece of original ribbon. Recently found in a house clearance in Germany.

GBP £125.00 (UK Pounds)

BARS TO THE IRON CROSSES 1ST CLASS

(J1641) A nice zinc example of the Bar the Iron Cross 1st Class. The bar was recently removed from a sample board for the firm of Deumer and although unmarked, is the type attributed to them. The bar has a nice hinge and hook to the reverse. It has toned a slate grey over the years. Increasingly hard to find now.

GBP £199.00 (UK Pounds)

BARS TO THE IRON CROSSES 2nd CLASS

(J223) A scarce example of the non combatants award for the Iron Cross 2nd class, being the bar that was given out to a WWI veteran. As the veteran obviously qualified for the non combatant cross, his award is affixed to the non combatant ribbon that is white with black edges. A nice rare combination to find, the ribbon bar is complete with only three pins, with the fourth being broken off. Also, the white ribbon has been trimmed and ironed. Scarce to find.

German Cross in Gold & Silver issued in 1957 for 1939 Veterans

(J938) An earlyish wartime parts made 1957 German Cross in gold. The cross in my opinion has an original wartime silver and black back star, hinge and hook and possibly the silver central dish and wreath. The Iron cross centre has been nicely attached to the disc, and the cross is in near mint condition. To the reverse, it has four hollow silver rivets, which again are well defined. It has been stated by one person that the cross has been an original that has been disassembled and reassembled by the firm of Steinhauer to make it a '57 version. I cannot agree or disagree since this is possible, and the quality is superb. The cross comes in a case that is hinged and opened by a press stud and may have been made using war time parts. The case has a steel double hinge to the reverse and a steel press stud that opens it. The white silk lined under lid has the impression of the '57 cross to the lid and is of non glowing silk. The black flocked base is of nice quality and shows where the cross has been sitting in it for several years. When the black base is lifted, it shows old glue as well as old material and I think could possibly be a wartime case but I wouldn't swear to it. A rare set to find nowadays. GPB £800.00 (UK Pounds)
