(P109) A Cased Eastern People's Award 1st Class in Silver. Although the award has toned silver, there does appear to be traces of gold to it. I feel this is more of a lacquer than gilding, but the pin, hinge and hook are also gold in colour. The emblem however, on the lid, is silver. If the award wasa gold one, obviously it would be worth more, so we have priced it as a silver. GBP 399.00 (UK Pounds)

*** 2nd Class Ostvolk Awards ***

(N950) An Ostvolk 2nd Class Medal of Merit in Silver. In very nice condition, the award comes with its original ribbon, unfortunately the pin is missing. The award was given to members of the Eastern People's Units as well as German Personnel that served in these units, although they could only qualify for the silver grades. The 2nd class and 1st class in silver equates to an iron cross 2nd and 1st class respectively and these awards were held in high esteem by the Germans who won them. Priced for pin missing. GBP 110.00 (UK Pounds)

(N1031) An Eastern People's 2nd Class Medal for Merit. The award is the later silver washed zinc type. This is maker marked 100 on the medal loop. The award is without swords and is therefore for merit. It comes complete with its original ribbon which is in near mint condition. The award was given to both German and Eastern Peoples as it is a silver grade. GBP 100.00 (UK Pounds)

(N1032) An Eastern People's 2nd Class Medal of Merit and Combat. The award is the earlier silver plated type over base zinc. This has bubbled and oxidised which is common for this award. The award is with swords which denotes bravery and is the equivalent to the iron cross 2nd class. Scarce to find. GBP 110.00 (UK Pounds)

(N1035) An Eastern People's 2nd Class Medal for Combat in Bronze with crossed swords .The award is in very nice condition and has the ribbon sown up but the pin has been removed GBP 110.00 (UK Pounds)

(CS897) A Nice example of a Paper Packeted Eastern People 2nd Class Medal of Merit. The award which is commonly called the Ostvolk Award, is complete with its ribbon and pin and is a 100 maker marked example. The award is the standard zinc silver plated type, with slight oxidisation and bubbling, which is common for these awards. It comes in a well used paper packet that has been partially torn but is complete. The paper packet has the award's designation in German as the silver class was both available to German and Russian personnel. Very scarce to find with the paper packet. GBP 175.00 (UK Pounds)

(CS79) A 1957 1st Class Ostvolk Decoration in what appears to be a bronze metal, but is probably gilt and has turned over the years. Complete with it's original pin and hook fixing. Scarce to find as few of these have been claimed. GBP 75.00 (UK Pounds)

(CS861) A Rare 5 Don Cossack Regimental Cross in aluminium. Nice quality and complete with its steel pin. The cross retains a large amount of its original paint finish. The cross has four holes drilled or punched into its surface, where it may well have been sewn to a tunic even though the pin fixing still works. The cross was picked up by a member of the Tank Corps who served in Africa, Italy and ended up in Austria. Very Hard Award to find. This cross is only the third I have had and matches the other two crosses identically. SORRY I AM SOLD GBP 800.00 (UK Pounds)

UNIFORMS AND INSIGNIA OF THE COSSACKS: In the German Wehrmacht in World War II

This book examines the uniforms and badges of an almost forgotten group of soldiers Don, Kuban, Terek and Siberian Cossack units that fought with the German Wehrmacht during World War II. With the cooperation of former members of many Cossack units the authors have collected a great deal of material much of the information I this book appears in print here for the first time. Among the subjects covered are: Cossacks in the Imperial Russian Army; the uniforms and badges of the Cossacks in the Wehrmacht in World War II, including collar insignia, Cossack headgear, sleeve badges (arm shields), Cossack qualification badges, decorations awarded to Cossacks; flags and command symbols of the Cossack units.
