(E902) A nice second pattern German Cross in gold contained in the vacuum style case. The cross is a used an worn example and athough it has some scratching, there are no chips to it. The cross has the nice coupal effect to the silver star and has the hinge and the hook countersunk into the base. The cross is the nice marked 20 style which is found under the pin to the reverse. There is some minor wear and tear as to be expected, to the blackened over star giving way to the bronzed interior below it. This gives the star a very nice effect and I actually believe that someone has removed this to give the star more contrast. The case that the cross comes in is the type without a press stud. It is in very nice over all condition, although the black flocking base that holds the star has lost most of the black flocked material leaving it bare to the black paper base. The white undersilk padded liner is clean, although darkened with age. The case exterior is in vgc with the usual handling wear, although there is no impression of a gold line around the edge. All in all, a nice used example. GBP £1800.00
