(G563) A Cased War Merit Cross 1st Class with swords. The cross is the earlier style of award being the nickel plated type. The cross retains a high percentage of it's original finish, although it has toned over the years. Under the pin, the cross is marked No. 52 and scratched into the reverse, is the letter SO. The case that the cross comes in, is also very nice condition with a blocked monogram of the award to the lid. The underside has a nice white silk padded interior, which is only marked in a couple of places and the black flocked cut out base is in very good condition. Opened by a magnetic press stud and with a magnetic hinge, the case has only moderate wear and tear to the leatherette finish on it's corners. A very nice example GBP £225.00
