A Finnish Bravery Medal being the Bronze Medal of Liberty for 1939

(R396) A Bronze 2nd Class Medal of Liberty showing to the centre, the Finnish lion holding a sword. This award was given for bravery and with the date of 1939, it signifies the Finnish Winter War where Russia attacked Finland, and the Finns were able to hold their own, for a considerable period of time, causing the Russians much embarrassment. The award was also open to foreign troops who served in Finland and is therefore, sometimes encountered in British and German medal groups. Given for acts of bravery, the award is held in high esteem in Finland. GBP 12.50
