SPANISH STYLE WOUND BADGES

(G83) A nice example of the Condor Legion Silver Wound Badge. The award retains a proportion of it's silver finish to the front and most of it's silver plating to the reverse. The badges construction is of brass with the hinge and hook separately applied. The swastika is the type which doesn't go fully into the helmet but the inner arms are etched and raised above the helmet, which in Hamlin's book denote's its an early WWII issue. Scarce to find though.

(G727) A scarce example of an original replacement issue Hollow Backed Gold Wound Badge. The badge was originally a black one, that has been taken from stock and dipped in gilt paint. This can be seen to have flaked in places leaving the black paint finish showing from underneath. To the reverse on the helmet is a faint 3 maker's mark. The badge itself is in very nice condition with most of the original gilt paint finish still intact. Scarce to find.

(G1309) A Gold Wound Badge being of late war zinc manufacture with approximately 65% of it's gilt paint to the front remaining and very little to the reverse. The badge has a nice quality silver plate finish applied, and although it has a few age stains to it, the silver plating is virtually all intact. No maker's mark can be seen on this example. (F1407) A nice example of a standard issue Silver Wound Badge by the maker 107 for Carl Wilde of Hamburg. The award is the later zinc style that has a silver plating applied and has a countersunk hinge and hook. The award has minor wear and tear as can be seen from the scan, but still in very good condition with the silver plate slightly bubbling from the zinc base metal. A good sign of age. This award, along with a few others, was picked up by a British serviceman in Hamburg at the end of the war and swapped for chocolates and cigarettes..0

(G923) A mid war Silver Wound Badge by the well known maker Carl Wild which is maker marked 107 in an oval cartouche plate with the numbers raised. Both the hinge and hook are countersunk and the badge shows approximately 70% of it's original silver wash with grey zinc coming through.

(G970) A Silver Wound Badge 1939 by the maker 65 being of standard construction for this maker with a cast in hinge and hook. The badge as is usual is silver plated over base zinc. (G1106) A textbook example of a Silver Wound Badge by the maker 100 with the mark around the encompassed hook on the reverse of the badge. The hinge on this example is cast in and the badge retains a nice proportion of it's silver plated finish with the high points burnished and the pebble reverse oxidised. On the reverse, there is a slight ding which is where it has obviously come in contact with another badge. All in all, a nice example.

(G1335) A nice used example of a Silver Wound Badge by the well known maker 100. The badge has the maker's mark 100 to the reverse on the countersunk hook. The hinge on this example as is often encountered, is part of the main casing of the badge. The badge is a nice early example of better quality metal than is usually encountered and is plated silver. This has worn as can be seen from the scan, but still shows the original burnished and frosted finish. The swastika has worn the plating down to the brass, giving it a nice three toned appearance. (G1045) A nice near mint Black Wound Badge by the Maker No. 3. The front of the badges retains virtually all of it's paint finish apart from on the reverse, where there is some minor paint rusting and lifting that can be seen just above the hook.
