(R380) A Nice Membership Badge for the Finnish Lotta Svärd Organisation. The badge consists of a blue swastika with the wording Lotta Svärd. To each arm of the swastika is the Finnish rose. To the reverse, it has a nice pin fixing and is silver hallmarked, silver date marked. This one is issue numbered 149766. There is no enamel damage. The badge is a rather nice design, given to the Finnish female auxillary service. These women undertook many duties from nursing to cooking, sewing, driving etc GBP £40.00 (UK Pounds)

(R404) A Finnish Civil Guard's Blue Service Cross. The cross is of nice quality and construction with no enamel/paint damage. The cross is complete with its original ribbon and was given in retrospect to service during WWII. Nice quality and construction. GBP £22.50 (UK Pounds)

(CS846) A mint unmounted and un-used ex stores Pair of Finnish Army Anti Tank or Armoured Staff Sergents Collar Partch pair found in a store room. These were manufactured for the Winter War campaign between Finland and Russia between 1939-1940. The pair are mounted onto a backing cloth of hessian with the cotton thread machine sewn into the coloured wool, which goes through to the backing cloth. The patch when used would be cut in half and sewn to the tunic's collar, displaying one either side of the tunic GBP £ 12.50 (UK Pounds)

(N24) A Finnish WWII Invalids War Badge. The badge shows a circular device of four broken swords with a central round disc that has the wording .SOTAINVALIDIEN VELJESLIITTO The badge has a screw back fixing and the badge is serial numbered 25918. Given to soldiers who were disabled, the badge was to show they had done their part. It also entitled them to health care and other benefits.

(N572) A Collection Badge for Finland showing four hands grasping each other in comrade support. The badge has a nice blue paint and grey zinc finish and has a stickpin fixing to the reverse. These badges were given to people in Finland, Sweden, Denmark and Norway who supported Finland against the Russian invasion

(N573) A Small Enamelled Pin in the shape of a shield. It has a griffin and royal emblem. The badge is quite small and is supposedly for a military unit emblem. I cannot verify this, neither can I disprove it. Priced as a little stickpin.

Finnish Volunteer Battalion of the Waffen-SS

The Finnish Volunteer Battalion of the Waffen-SS was a formation with a very unique history. Its members volunteered, and were spirited out of Finland to Germany under the watchful Russian eyes. Never completely supported by the various Finnish political factions,
The battalion joined the SS-Wiking Division in January 1942 and fought in southern Russia and the Caucasus until its mission ended in April 1943. Its soldiers badly needed on the home front, it was recalled due to intense pressure from the Finnish government. The battalion served with great sacrifice and proved itself worthy of being a part of one of Germany's elite divisions. Despite the language barrier, its soldiers adapted well and fought bravely shoulder to shoulder with their German comrades-in-arms. Long-overdue, their story is now told in this volume.
