(V1622) A German Infantry Assault Badge of midwar construction of heavy metal. This example has been used and worn and appears to have been a bronze grade example that has faded. This type of award has been ascribed to a manufacturer L/56 who is Funcke & Bruninghaus, and as such matches all the attributes of this maker. These badges have also been found stamped with this, but are more scarce than their unmarked counterparts. Having said that, it is still a nice used example. And this award along with a bundle of other awards were picked up in the Reich Chancellery in May 1945 by a British Serviceman 388491 CPL E N Pickup. His details are shown below. Along with his hand written letter stating how he acquired these items.
