A German WWII Cased War Merit Cross 1st Class With Swords.

(V2009) A Cased example of a War Merit Cross 1st Class With Swords. The cross is an unmarked example with an unusual pin fixing arrangement reminiscent of the of the WWI style of pins, where a separate spring back part is soldered separately to the pin. The cross is a nice nickel silver plated example of heavy quality metal and has been used and worn in service. The cross has no manufacturer's marks I can see and is of nice quality and construction. The cross comes in a two piece heavy card case similar to the iron cross cases. The case is slightly domed with a silver blocked war merit cross design to the lid. Opened by a press stud, the hinge works perfectly. There is an under white silk lid that is a little stained and creased but all intact. There is then the black base for the cut out for the cross, which lifts out. It is a standard B and D case internal. All in all, a nice example of a used and worn cross. GBP £325.00 (UK Pounds)
