A German Air Gunner's Badge

(V1691) A German Air Gunner's Badge by the maker Assmann in its Original Case of Issue. The hard case is of Early quality construction opened by a press stud and has a magnetic hinge to the back. The outer case is in good overall condition, though the award title has faded, leaving just the impression visible to the lid. When opened, there is a blue silk underlining to the lid and a paper backed cut out to take the badge to base, in blue flocked material. This is also stamped with a manufacturer's name and numerals to the card base, which lifts out, if taken out gently. The award itself is a standard mid war Assmann wireless operator air gunner badge of zinc construction with the eagle held by two rivets to the badge. The hinge and hook work perfectly. The badge is of nice tight construction. The badge could do with a mild clean, as can be seen, but nothing too serious. Scarce to find.
